Kundapur : Illegal sand mining, one arrested and another accused absconding

Print Kundapur, Jun.1 : Kundapur police have arrested one person in connection with illegal sand mining in Panchagangavali stream near Ring Road on Nana Saheb Road in Vaderahobli village. One person was arrested on 1. Another accused is reported to be absconding.
Acting on a tip-off that some people were removing sand from the stream and loading it in a boat, Kundapur police inspector, Nanja Naik, raided the spot and arrested one Udaya Mendon, while another accused, Sunil, managed to flee.
The accused were found to have stolen sand from Panchagangavali stream without any permit and stored it for transportation, and a total worth of Rs 5,20,000 was recovered from the spot, including a fibre boat, sand, tipper vehicle used for the act. The valuables have been seized. A case has been registered at Kundapur police station.
