Alumnae Day 2025 celebrated in Milagres College, Kallianpur.

The Alumni Association (R) of Milagres College, Kallianpur, hosted a heart-warming and memorable Alumni Day 2025 on Saturday, 31st May 2025, at the college AV Hall. The event brought together proud alumni from across generations in a joyful celebration of fellowship, gratitude, and shared legacy.

Established in 1967, Milagres College holds a glorious history of nearly 60 years. Since its inception, the college has been a beacon of hope and a vital means of higher education, especially for the poor and marginalized communities in this rural coastal region. It continues to empower countless first-generation learners and stands as a proud pillar of inclusive education and social transformation.

Though the programme was scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM, the official proceedings commenced at 7:00 PM, allowing time for alumni to reconnect and relive their college memories.

The event began with a prayer session led by Amrita Lewis Office Manager and Ravinandan, PRO of the college, invoking blessings and setting a reflective tone.

Mr. Shekar Gujjarbettu, President of the Alumni Association, welcomed the gathering and acknowledged the contributions of former students who have shaped the college’s journey through their active engagement.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Prasad Raj Kanchan, Congress Leader and alumnus, fondly recalled his PU College days at Milagres. He emphasized the growing importance of alumni associations in today’s commercialized education landscape and praised the institution’s lasting influence on its students.
Guest of Honour, Mr. Chethan Kumar Shetty (1993 BSc batch), shared an emotionally moving note, expressing deep gratitude to the college and its faculty. He spoke about how the spirit of social responsibility instilled during his student life continues to guide his actions today, especially in fond remembrance of his late son, Pradhan Shetty.

A proud and inspiring moment followed with the felicitation of Mr. Roshan Lobo, an international power lifter from Hosala, Barkur, and alumnus of the 2005 BCom batch. His impressive accomplishments were narrated by Prof. Sophia Dias, Secretary of the Alumnae Association, as he was honoured with a traditional shawl and memento. In his emotional reply, Roshan paid glowing tribute to Late Augustine Dias, the then Physical Education Director, and acknowledged the formative role of Milagres College in shaping his character and success.

Principal Dr. Vincent Alva, in his address, highlighted the significant contributions of the Milagres Alumni Association, which has been a registered body since 2002. He proudly shared that the association has contributed nearly ₹2 crores towards developmental work in the college — a vital support when government aid is minimal. He commended the alumni for their vision, commitment, and continued involvement in institutional growth.

Among others, Dr. Jayaram Shettigar, Staff Secretary, was also present on stage, past office bearers, well-wishers, and members of Teaching and non- teaching faculty and extended his good wishes to the gathering.

Adding a vibrant and spontaneous touch to the evening, alumni took to the stage to share nostalgic stories, sing yesteryear songs, and engage in fun games, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. The event concluded with a warm fellowship dinner, strengthening old bonds and building new ones.

The formal programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Joyce Lewis, who acknowledged the tireless efforts of the organizers, the enthusiastic participation of the alumni, and the gracious presence of all dignitaries.

Alumni Day 2025 was more than just a reunion—it was a celebration of the values, vision, and vibrant legacy of Milagres College, Kallianpur.
