Udupi, May 31: Additional deputy commissioner Abid Gadala has asked the officials to effectively implement the basic knowledge and modification system to combat and control the effects of climate change and reduce the severity of future climate change.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) and Environmental Management and Policy Research Institute (EMPRI), Bengaluru, at Dr. V.S. Acharya Auditorium, Zilla Panchayat, Rajatadri, Manipal today. He was speaking after inaugurating a training programme for district-level officials on the Karnataka State Action Plan on Climate Change.
Climate change adversely affects various sectors including untimely rains, temperature rise, cyclones, floods, agriculture. It undermines many of the products that support the livelihood and economy of the public. It will also affect the natural ecosystem and solutions can be found through artificial intelligence and other technologies.
The waste generated on a daily basis should be disposed of scientifically. Improper disposal of waste is harming the environment as well as human life. Diabetes is on the rise these days. When plastic is thrown everywhere, it dries up in the sun and turns into microplastics, which can spread deadly diseases like diabetes and cancer in the human body. He said that the district is full of conscious citizens, aware of the sensitivity of the environment, and waste disposal should be done in a proper manner.

Nature has its own systems. Even a small change in it leads to a lot of imbalances. Even a slight difference in water temperature affects the monsoon. While implementing any project, one should think about the social consequences and then formulate the plan. Empree will provide training on global implementation of climate change mitigation plans and the information received in the training should be effectively implemented.
Chief Planning Officer of the district. Uday Shetty said that this is the right time to address the problems caused by climate change in the district and implement the programs to change it. In 2015, the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals. The programme is being implemented at the village, taluk, district and state levels.
