Education can bring change in society: MLA Yashpal A Suvarna

Udupi, May 27: MLA Yashpal A Suvarna said that education has the power to get a good position in the society and fulfil the dreams of the future.
He was speaking after presiding over a felicitation programme held at St Cecily’s High School in the city today for the Government, aided and unaided schools which have secured cent per cent results in the SSLC examination for March 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Udupi district is known as the Kashi of education. Education and health should not be compromised. The teachers of the district are the backbone of the children’s achievement along with performing well in their profession. He also said that the district has achieved good results in the SSLC examination due to the hard work of the students.
Students are focussing on the careers of engineers and doctors. He said that those who trying to UPSC exams, they should get a good post like IPS and contribute to the development of the district, state and the country.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. K Vidyakumari said that the high schools in the district have given good results by taking the instructions of the government and the district administration seriously and implementing them effectively. She said that even when some schools were given unexpected allowance in the evening, students were seen studying seriously and such special classes also helped in raising the educational level of the district.



Teachers are involved in many aspects of educational achievement in the district. Various programmes were held to mark the occasion. We need to set our goals for next year. She said that it is the responsibility of the teachers to ensure that the children are engaged in the achievement of the set goals from the initial stage itself.
On the occasion, Swasti Kamath, Nidhi Pai and Sai Sparsha, who topped the state in the current year’s SSLC examination, were felicitated. As many as 147 government, aided and unaided high schools in the district, which secured cent per cent results in the SSLC examination in 2022-23 and 2023-24, were honoured with cash and mementos. Laptops were distributed to the students of Government High School who secured first three ranks at Brahmavar Taluk level
Ganapathy, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, who is retiring at the end of this month, was felicitated on the occasion.
The programme was attended by District Education Officers of Udupi, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Byndoor and Karkala taluks, High School Co-Teachers Association President Kiran Hegde, Teachers Association representative Prabhakar Shetty, Kondalli, St Cecily’s High School headmistress Preethi Sister, headmasters of all high schools in the district and others.
Ganapathy, Deputy Director, Department of Public Instruction, welcomed the gathering and Rajendra Bhat, Headmaster, compered the programme.
