Udupi, May 19: Following the drone attack on the Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited (ISPRL) in Padoor gram panchayat limits on the outskirts of Kaup, a fire broke out in the outer and inner walls of the company premises at around 4 pm yesterday.

In the wake of the fire from the bomb blast, the siren was immediately rushed to a warning hour, and information was given to the District and District Police Control Room. The ISPRL’s fire extinguisher began the task of picking up the fire that appeared inside the company. Within a few moments, the Adani company’s fire engine took up the task of extinguishing the fire outside. In the first stage, the fire was extinguished at full scale in four to five minutes, and the fire inside the company was extinguished. The fire brigade of Karkala joined the operation.

Kaup Police Station Police personnel rushed to the spot and began an investigation into the incident. As many as 35 people, who were working inside the company, sustained serious and minor injuries and were shifted to a safer place by other employees of the company, the police said. A team of doctors from Shirva Primary Health Centre, Kaup, visited the spot immediately and triaged on the priority of treatment. They were rushed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance for further treatment.

The bomb disposal squad reached the spot with a dog to check for the presence of live bombs. A team of Quick Reaction Force (QRF) has reached the spot and has been deployed for security. Within 40 minutes of the incident, the SDRF team from Mangaluru arrived and provided first aid, including evacuation of the injured. While two persons died on the spot, 12 were shifted to a hospital in Kaup and 20 to a community health center in Shirva for treatment. There is no complete information about it. He is currently in the ICU. A team of the revenue department had taken the initiative to shift people living in the vicinity of the incident to the nearest care center.

In the meantime, the drone attack avoids the exact target when the drone is set to attack the second time, and is not much damaging to the Gate of the ISPRL. D.A.R.  Quick Response Team made it impeccable at the gate. At 4.55 pm, the fire extinguisher was carried out in full.

District Collector Dr. K Vidyakumari and Dr. K Arun, District Police Superintendent came to the scene and visited the victims, then inspected exploded site. By 5.33 pm whole mock drilling show was finished after the incident was in full swing.

More than 270 personnel worked on a fictional emergency through the practice of operation, creating an explosion through the drone, on the other hand creating a fire explosion practice through artificial emergency practice.

The Mock Drilling practice Operation was attended by Revenue Department, Police Department, Fire Brigade, Industrial Security Force, Coastal Security Force, RTO, Health Department, Mescom, SDRF Team, Home Guard, Defense Force and others.

After the conclusion of the demonstration, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Dr. K Vidyakumari, stated that Operation practice, a demonstration of rescue operations during natural calamities and man-made disasters, has been undertaken in collaboration with ISPRL. Today’s demonstration focused on human defense and plant protection in the event of a drone attack. In the rescue operation, each and every department fulfilled their responsibility well and brought the situation under control in a short span of time. She mentioned that the purpose of this type of operational exercise is to prevent loss of life and damage to property in disaster situations, and the SDRF team from Mangaluru arrived within 40 minutes of the incident and carried out rescue operations.
