Udupi, April 24 :The Udupi district committee of the Women’s India Movement (WIM) has strongly condemned the excessive financial burden imposed on the people of the state by the central and state governments, said Nazia Nasrullha, District President of Women India Movement.

Addressing a press meet held at Udupi Press Club here on Thursday, April 24, she said that ‘If the central BJP government has increased the price of cooking gas for the people who are already suffering from the price of day -to -day commodities, the state Congress government has raised electricity, milk, water and bus rates. In addition, the rise of our Metro train, which is a populist, has made the masses again face their private vehicles.

Despite the fall in global oil prices, the government is clearly daydreaming by increasing the excise duty on oil. The benefit of falling prices of crude oil is not being passed on to the common man. The governments that came to power promising development to the poor and middle class have now made the daily life of the people miserable, she said.

She said that on the one hand, the central government in the name of Achche Din and the state government, which is a pro-people government, through guarantee schemes, are looting the people due to price rise. The BJP governments at the Centre and in the state are trying to mislead the people.

Like the anti-people policies of the colonial British, even today the people of the country are being made to suffer financially by privatizing the essential service sectors. There is a huge burden of taxes on the purchase of essential goods.

Women’s India Movement Udupi district president Nazia Nasrulla said in a press conference that the Women’s India Movement has decided to hold a protest campaign across the state from April 18 to 28 against the anti-people policies of the central and state governments, which are completely engaged in protecting the interests of the people, she said.
