A report on Konkani Career Guidance Session Organized by Konkani Association, St. Agnes College, Mangaluru

In a continued effort to inspire and guide students on career opportunities while preserving the essence and traditions of the Konkani language, the Konkani Association, St. Agnes College, Mangalore, organized a ‘Konkani Career Guidance Session for event presents’ on March 22, 2025. This initiative reflects the institution’s dedication to nurturing academic excellence and cultural heritage among its students.

Session Highlights:
The session, themed "Konkani Ulai, Konkani Pulai, Konkani Aamchi Avoi" (Konkani Flourishes, Konkani Grows, Konkani is Our Mother), aimed to provide students with valuable insights into various career paths while emphasizing the role of the Konkani language in shaping their professional and personal growth.
The event was gracefully hosted by Ms. Seema Rakshitha D’Souza, a second-year BCA student, who ensured the program flowed seamlessly and maintained engagement throughout.
Welcome Address: The session commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Melson D’Souza, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Konkani Association, at St. Agnes College. He highlighted the significance of integrating cultural heritage with career aspirations.

Resource Person: The keynote address was delivered by Prof P. Archibald Furtado, administrative coordinator of National Group of Educational Institutions, Barkur, a distinguished academician and career mentor. He provided students with:
Career Planning Strategies: Guidance on selecting appropriate career paths aligning with individual interests and skills.
Opportunities in Konkani Language & Literature: Insights into careers in journalism, translation, content creation, academia, and cultural preservation.
Personality Development & Soft Skills: Emphasis on the importance of communication, leadership, and networking in career advancement.

Student Opinion: Ms. Premal Sandriya Cutinha, a student attendee, shared her perspective on the session, expressing appreciation for the valuable insights provided and the encouragement to pursue careers intertwined with cultural roots.

Vote of Thanks: The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Sonia Fernandes, who acknowledged the efforts of all participants, organizers, and the resource person for making the session impactful.
St Agnes College, Konkani Sangh Secretary, Mr. Dion Sam D’Souza, a second-year BBA student played a pivotal role in organizing the event and ensuring its success.
