A total of 14,153 students appear for S.S. L. C examinations in Udupi district - Dr. Vidyakumari, DC

Udupi, May 19 : A total of 14,153 students will be appear in the S.S.L.C examinations at 51 examination centers in the district from May 21 to Aug. 4, said District Collector Dr K Vidyakumari.


Addressing a press meet held at DC office meeting hall today on Wednesday March 19, Dr. K. Vidyakumari said that there are a total of 272 high schools, including 115 government, 68 aided and 89 unaided, in the district. The exam will be held in 590 examination halls.
A total of 13,798 students, including 7152 boys and 6646 girls, will appear for the examination. The remaining 215 (159 boys, 56 girls) private students, 44 (30+14) private repeaters and 96 (70+26) regular repeaters will also appear in the exam.
A total of 14153 students, including 7411 boys and 6742 girls, are appearing for the examination.


The examination will be held in 590 rooms in 51 examination centres, including 15 in Udupi, 11 in Brahmavar, 9 in Karkala, 8 each in Byndoor and Kundapur. Deputy Director of Public Instruction Ganapathy said that a total of 12 officers and staff have been appointed to the Deputy Commissioner’s office for webcasting.
Out of the 51 examination centres in the district, the number of examination centres with clusters is 17 and the number of examination centres without clusters is 34. A total of 1013 examiners have been appointed to conduct the exam in a peaceful manner without any irregularity. These include ward officers and supervisors, she said.
To prevent malpractices in the examination, three teams at the district level and one team at the zonal level have been deployed in each taluk. All examination center’s will be 200 metres away a curfew has been imposed in the area.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made at the District Treasury and 2 Taluk Treasuries in Udupi. A total of 22 teams of Margadarshaks have been formed in the district to transport the question papers of the respective subjects to the examination centres and receive the answer sheets on the day of the examination. All the 51 examination centres have been provided with ORS, clean drinking water and health workers for first aid. Clean drinking water and hot meals will be provided to students at all examination centers, she said.
Candidates appearing for the SSLC examination will be provided free travel in KSRTC buses from their residence to the examination center. For this, they will have to show the examination hall admission card, DC said.
