Report on Career Guidance Seminar for Class X Students, organized by: National PU College, Barkur
On Saturday, 11th January 2025
National PU College, Barkur, hosted a Career Guidance Seminar on 11th January 2025 to empower Class X students from neighbouring high schools with insights to plan their future education and careers effectively. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and dignitaries, making it a grand success.
Highlights of the Event
Stage Program
The seminar commenced with prayers led by PU students, setting a serene and focused tone for the day.
Welcome Address: Principal Mrs. Ushakiran Shetty warmly welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of career planning at an early stage.
Roses to Guests: Mr. Umesh Shetty, Physical Education Director, presented roses to the esteemed guests, adding a personal touch to the proceedings.
Inauguration: The traditional lamp was lit by Mr. B. Shantaram Shetty, President of Barkur Educational Society, marking the formal inauguration of the seminar. In his address, he encouraged the students to explore various career options.
Inspirational Address: Rotarian Mr. Ganesh Shetty presided over the event, delivering an inspiring speech that motivated students to pursue their goals with determination.
Guest Addresses
Mr. Mahesh Udupa, former President of National High School, shared valuable insights into the significance of such seminars and how they help students in decision-making.
Vote of Thanks: Mr. Ullittaya, Lecturer in Sanskrit, expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, resource persons, and participants for their contribution to the event.
Among others, Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary, Barkur Education Society, Mr Bhaskar Poojary – Interact Chairman Rotary Barkur, P. Archibald Furtado, Admn Coordinator of the National Group of Educational Institutions, Mr Ajith Kumar Shetty, Secretary Rotary Barkur, Mr Raj Gopal Nambiar President, NPUC Parent Teachers Association and many Members of Rotary etc were present to encourage the participants.
The event was skilfully compeered by Mrs. Jyothi, Lecturer in Kannada.
Resource Persons and Sessions
1. Dr. Robert Clive, Principal of Crossland College, Brahmmavar, conducted the first session, providing students with a roadmap to success in higher education and career planning. He was introduced by Mrs. Sandhya, Lecturer.
2. Mr. Mahesh, K. PDO winner of 4 times the prestigious Gandhi Award for model Panchayat at national level, led the second session with practical advice on career development. He was introduced by Mrs. Swathi, Lecturer in Economics.
3. Mr. Alwyn Danti, a Senior High School Teacher, stage artist, writer, event manager, and youth trainer, captivated the audience during the third session with his dynamic and inspiring delivery. He was introduced by Mrs. Prathima, Lecturer in History.
Special Presentations and Activities
A Science Exhibition showcasing innovative projects enthralled the visiting students and set an engaging tone for the day, under creative guidance from Mrs Aishwrya Shetty, Mrs Gauri, Ms Sowmya – Lectures in Physics, Chemistry and Biology respectively.
A video presentation designed by Ms. Akshata, Lecturer in Computer Science, highlighted the illustrious 78-year history of National PU College, capturing the attention of all attendees.
Teachers who accompanied the students were recognized with roses and mementos as a gesture of appreciation.
Arrangements for Participants
All participants were provided with pens, notebooks, and other essentials to encourage note-taking and active participation.
Breakfast and lunch arrangements ensured everyone remained energized throughout the event.
Conclusion
The seminar concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mrs. Vijaya Lakshmi, Lecturer in Commerce, acknowledging the efforts of the organizers, teachers, and resource persons who contributed to the success of the workshop.
The Career Guidance Seminar proved to be a well-organized and impactful initiative, leaving participants with a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to plan their future studies and careers effectively.
