In the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaih, Naxal surrender programme - speech of CM

• It is not wrong to fight for justice against injustice, exploitation, violence.

• There is a provision in the constitution to fight for system change. But the struggle should be done peacefully and justly.

• Naxalism, armed struggle is not allowed in the constitution, democratic system.

• In the past too, many Naxalites have given up arms and come into the mainstream. The government has provided assistance for their resettlement.

• Civic Forum for Peace met me and told me about persuasion of Naxalites. On that occasion, I said that the government will give all assistance to give up Naxalism and come into the mainstream.

• We will do whatever program is required to end Naxalism in Karnataka and respond to their demands within the legal framework.

• There is no opportunity in democracy and constitution to fight and get justice through arms.

• In a democracy there is an opportunity to fight peacefully. The government is not opposed to this. But if the law is taken up, the government will not be idle.

• Our government is trying hard to reduce injustice. Our mission is that no injustice should be done to anyone.

• To protect the rights of the poor, many programs have been implemented to empower them economically and socially. This is the purpose of guarantee schemes like Shakti, Grahakshmi Yojana. This will give opportunity to the poor to live with dignity. Change in society is possible only if the poor are empowered to survive economically and socially.

• A free society free from naxalism is our goal. In this background, I openly said all kinds of help to Naxalites coming into the mainstream. I promised to treat you as human beings and not as criminals.

• The role of committee members is important in the surrender of Naxalites, I would like to thank them and all the officers who worked in this regard.
