Spreading Christmas Joy: A Heartwarming Celebration for the Physically and Visually Challenged Across Karnataka
Bengaluru: On December 15th, Dhyana Jyothi Trust, in collaboration with Helping Hand Trust, hosted a heartwarming Christmas celebration for physically and visually challenged families across Karnataka. The event, held at the Holy Ghost Church Parish Hall in Frazer Town, Bangalore, began at 11 a.m. and brought together a diverse group of individuals to celebrate love, unity, and the blessings of the season.
The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Das Suryavamshi, Commissioner of the Karnataka State Disabled Commission. He was joined by key dignitaries, including Fr. Ivan Dzouza OCD, Trustee of Dhyana Jyothi Trust, and Fr. Prakash D’Cunha from Helping Hand Trust. Other esteemed guests included Mr. Maxim Fernandes, recipient of the Senior Achiever in HR Sector Award-2024; Mrs. Princy David, Administrator of Holy Ghost Parish Hall; Mrs. Priya Colin, Founder of the Disciples of Christ Community; Mr. Ranjendra, former corporator of Pulakeshi Nagar; Mr. Kevin, a well-wisher and miraculous child of God; Bro. Glen, a member of the OCD family; and Mr. Silvian Noronha, former President of FKCA.
The celebration was marked by vibrant participation, with attendees receiving red T-shirts that added to the festive atmosphere. It began with a heartfelt praise and worship session led by visually challenged elders, followed by a prayer led by Mrs. Nelly Prichard. The dignitaries participated in the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the light of Christ, and were warmly welcomed with shawls, garlands, and tokens of gratitude presented by Mrs. Nelly.
In his speech, Mr. Das Suryavamshi emphasized the strength that comes from the Word of God and the importance of upholding values. He introduced a Braille Bible, which deeply touched many attendees. Fr. Prakash D’Cunha expressed appreciation for Mrs. Nelly Prichard’s compassionate work, and the community expressed their heartfelt gratitude for her selfless service. The gathering also celebrated Mrs. Prichard’s birthday, showering her with warm wishes and blessings.
Musical performances by children from Jyothi Seva Blind School, who sang Christmas carols, and the "Come to Me Daily" Children’s Prayer Group, who presented an action song, brought smiles and joy to all. Mrs. Prichard shared inspiring testimonies, highlighting the importance of recognizing human dignity and respecting life. Fun activities, games, and competitions brought cheer to the attendees, while the visually challenged and physically disabled choir delivered a moving performance, reminding everyone of God’s love and grace.
Gifts were distributed to both children and adults, spreading festive cheer. The surprise appearance of two Santa Clauses delighted everyone as children danced along with them, with prizes awarded to the best dancers.
Before the gathering concluded, Mrs. Nelly Prichard was honored by the physically and visually challenged families for her unwavering love and the positive impact she has had on their lives. The community cut a birthday cake in her honor and showered her with blessings.
The event concluded with a delicious fellowship meal that nourished both body and spirit. Heartfelt gratitude was extended to all sponsors and supporters, whose kindness and contributions made the celebration possible. Special thanks were given to Fr. Edward, the Redemptorist Provincial, for generously providing the venue.
The day ended with a spirit of joy, inspiration, and gratitude, reminding everyone of the true meaning of Christmas and the love that Christ brings into our lives. Glory to God for His blessings and for the generosity of all those involved.
