Udupi : St. Anthony (Kallianpur ‘A’) ward of Milagres Cathedral celebrated the annual ward Fest with devotion and unity on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The thanksgiving mass for the patron of the Ward St Anthony held at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur near here at 8am which celebrated by Rev Fr. Dr. Jencil Alva, Resident priest.

In his homily, Fr Jencil Alva dominates the day’s liturgy and in regard to St Anthony, he said that well known Saint Anthony recognized creation as another manifestation of the beauty of God who he might be totally disciplined for the will of God.

At the end, on behalf of parish Vicar and Rector, Rt. Rev Monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves and Asst parish priest Pradeep Cardoza, conveyed best wishes of the ward fest to Gurkarn, ward representative and others.

In the evening at 4pm, get together of St Anthony Kallianpur A ward people held at Owin Rodrigues house, opposite of Milar Home for the Senior Priests. Rev Monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves, Rev Fr Pradeep Cardoza, Rev Fr Dr. Jencil Alva, Melwyn Sequeira Vice President and Eugene Rebello Secretary of parish pastoral council along with Prema Lewis Coordinator of parish pastoral commissions, Gurkarn Rosy Baretto and Owin Rodrigues, Ward Representative were present on the dais.

The evening get together began with prayer song held by ward members. Rosy Baretto Ward Gurkarn welcomed the gathering.

Ward Secretary Monica D’silva placed very long ward report while Treasa Lewis placed the Ujjwal Self Help Group report for the year. Meanwhile, Rector of the Cathedral and Vicar General of Udupi Diocese Mngr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Asst. parish priest Fr Pradeep Cardoza and Fr. Jencil Alva resident priest were honored during the occasion.

One of the specialty of the ward fest of Kallianpur A ward is participating most of the senior priests of Milar Homes of Retired priests like Fr Alphonse D’ Lima, Fr Xavier Pinto, Fr. Charles Lewis, Fr Arthur Periera, Fr. John Rodrigues and others. Meanwhile Rosy Convent nuns, Ave Maria Ozanam Home nuns and Milar Homes convent sisters were present during the occasion.

Mngr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Fr. Pradeep Cardoza and Fr Jencil Alva spoke during the occasion and gave gratitude to ward faithful. Meanwhile Eugene Rebello Secretary also spoke during the occasion.

The various entertainment activities like spot games, action dance of children and elders, singing by the ward singers, game for the children and Housie game was conducted.

At the end, ward representative and host of the ward fest Owin Rodrigues delivered vote of thanks. The beautiful tiffin was served to all the participants. Most of the gurkars of other wards of the Cathedral and guests were present during the Kallianpur Ward Fest celebrations.
