Udupi, November 16 : District In-charge Secretary Dr. MT Raju said that during the special brief revision of the voter list, adding new names, correcting and removing names should be carried out without any loopholes.

He was presiding over a special brief revision of electoral roll observers’ meeting held at the Collectorate Hall of Manipal Rajatadri in the city today.

The process of revision of voter list in the district is already being carried out on the instructions of the Election Commission. For a month, the booth level polling officers will visit the houses to verify the data like addition, correction, deletion of name from the public. He appealed to the representatives of the political parties to appoint booth level agents of the political parties and coordinate with the officials.

Names of those who have come to seek employment from outside districts and have been living here for the past four to five years should be included in the 5 Assembly Constituency of District 5. He said that if the name was previously in the voter list in his own town, appropriate action should be taken to remove it.

He said that every eligible voter who has completed 18 years of age should give and register his name in the voter list with eligible documents and give more publicity about the special voter registration campaign days and also give priority to the registration of service voters.

He said that when applications are submitted online or directly for voter registration and other functions, they should be processed as per rules without delay.

He instructed that if there are more than 1500 votes in some polling stations of the district, a proposal should be sent to the Election Commission for the establishment of additional polling stations.

 District Collector Dr. K. Vidyakumari explained in detail about the work done for revision of special voter list in the district.

Additional District Collector Mamata Devi GS, Taluk Tahsildars, agents of various parties such as BJP’s Chandra Shekhar Prabhu, Congress’s B ​​Suwal Shetty, JDS’s Rama Rao, CPI’s Balakrishna Shetty and others were present in the meeting.
