Udupi: Catholic Sabha organises, Kundapur Deanery Level Elocution Competition

Udupi, October 17, 2024: Catholic Sabha Kundapur Varado organised the Deanery level Elocution Competitions in Konkani and Kannada on Thursday, 17th October, 2024, at the Mary’s PU College Auditorium at 9.30 am, bringing together young orators, the winners at Parish levels, from various schools across the eleven parishes. The event aimed to foster public speaking skills, boost confidence, and encourage students to express their thoughts on pertinent social issues.

To begin the keenly contested competitions, the Varado President Mr Wilson DAlmeida extended a warm and cordial welcome to all participants, parents as well as team of judges for the event, as it comprised of nine experts from different fields, hailing from Kallianpur, and Udupi Varado’s, with roses, who later provided valuable feedback and encouragement to all participants.

Participants exhibited impressive skills, with some delivering speeches that were not only eloquent but also deeply thought-provoking.
Popular emcee in the region, Mr Anil DSilva highlighted objectives of Catholic Sabha to enhance leadership, communication skills, promote critical thinking and expression of ideas and provide a platform for speakers to be courageous and shine in their career… On behalf panel of judges -  Prof Archibald Furtado expressed happiness and it was a real tough job to evaluate, as they did it based on content, delivery and overall impact and Mrs Bridget Gonsalves gave a call to children to grab the opportunities coming on their way and appreciated Catholic Sabha efforts in conducting these competitions regularly.

The event was a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation of 68 youth and children with their commendable performances. It provided a platform for young voices to be heard and celebrated.

On behalf the organizers Catholic Sabha Secretary Mr Grevin Passanha expressed gratitude to all participants, judges, and volunteers for their efforts in making this event not only successful but also memorable one. He expressed confidence that, these talented individuals shine in future Udupi Diocese Level competitions, as the first and second place winners, qualified for the next level to be held on 3rd November, 2024.
