Following the global success of his magnum opus, ’Kalki 2898 AD’, acclaimed filmmaker Nag Ashwin returned to his alma mater, Manipal Institute of Communication, on Thursday, for a special film screening event.

Nag Ashwin is a distinguished alumnus of the bachelor’s batch of 2005 from the Manipal Institute of Communication, Manipal. He had an interaction with the students and added that he had very jovial and fruitful learning during his stay in Manipal.  He liked wandering in End Point. He was always keen on coming back to Manipal. He added that old black and white movies and actions have inspired him a lot and that made him to experiment on Kalki. He said he tried doing it for today’s generation. Mahabharat is an amazing epic. The story has inspired him a lot and he always had a thought to bring the mythology for future. The process is complicated with the idea and other experiments. The only thing that inspired him was the deadline as he was under panic and fear. The film is a hardship and once started has no choice to come back. The journey is ascertained. He added he enjoys making films, he said.

He is renowned for his notable works like ’Yevade Subramanyam’ and ’Mahanati’. The screening was followed by an interactive session with Nag Ashwin, during which the students had the opportunities to interact one-on-one with the director.

He was felicitated by the Institute director Dr Padma Rani on the occasion.
