Udupi Journalists to organise Interaction program on articial disaster, fire tragedy, landslide on August 3

Udupi: In order to raise awareness about the cause and awareness of the natural calamities that are happening everywhere at present, Udupi Press Club under the auspices of Udupi District Working Journalists Association organized a program on ’Artificial Disaster - Fire Tragedy - Landslide: A Discussion’ on Saturday August 3rd at 10.30.
Speaking at a press conference called today at Udupi Press Bhawan, President Rajesh Shetty Alevuru said that the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association is not limited to conducting programs for journalists only but has organized many programs with social commitment and concern. As a part of it, it is intended to organize a program to discuss the natural calamities which are necessary for the current situation in public.
The necessity of today is to discuss the artificial flood that is affecting Udupi city every year, the fire disasters that are being reported more and more recently and the landslides that are happening in various places including the district.
Udupi Municipal Commissioner Rayappa, Udupi District Fire Brigade Officer Vinayak U. Kalgutakara and senior geologist Dr. Udaya Shankar of Manipal will discuss these three issues as chief guests in this program. Later there will be an interaction program.
Rajesh Shetty, Alevoor, president of the association will preside over the program. He informed that not only journalists but also interested public can participate in this program.
General Secretary Nazir Polya, Treasurer Umesh Marpalli, Secretary Rahim Ujire were present in the press conference.
