Shiruru July 21:  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah interacted with the teams of SDRF and NDRF who are operating in extremely dangerous conditions and appreciated the performance of the personnel.

On the left side of the road which has been blocked by the landslide, there is a raging Gangavali i river on the hill-right side of the landslide. Besides, the Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the staff that the task of finding the lives stuck under the soil is very challenging in the continuous torrential rain.

Four teams are conducting operations using radar technology to locate those who may be trapped under the landslide. Four other teams are operating inside the river on the other side. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who has been stationed in the taluk for many days, explained this to the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister informed the officials about the possibilities of collapse of the area where the operation is going on and the road filled with mud and warned them to be more careful about this.

The place of the land slide  has become   like an island. Gangavali river is flowing around. A half-collapsed hill stands in between. Thus, the Chief Minister suggested to get information from high-level experts about the risks and challenges that may be encountered during the operation and get technical assistance.

Revenue Minister Krishnabyre Gowda, District In-charge Minister Mankala Vaidya, Former Minister RV Deshpande, MLA Satish Sail, Additional Chief Secretaries to the Government L.K. Ateeq, Shalini Rajneesh along with senior revenue department officials and staff were present at the spot.

Did you give raincoats to journalists?

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah observed the journalists and cameramen who were working amidst the torrential downpour and asked the officials whether they had provided  raincoats and rubber shoes to all the journalists.

The officers were confused as they did not expect this question from the Chief Minister.
