Udupi, June 12: On behalf of the Udupi District Health and Family Welfare Department, on Friday, on the occasion of Eradication of Dengue Aedes mosquito breeding sites, journalists conducted a larval survey in the environment of Udupi Press House, destroyed the larvae, and distributed pamphlets to the public to create awareness about dengue disease.

Alevoor Rajesh Shetty, president of Udupi District Working Journalists Association, launched the program under the leadership of Dr. Prashant Bhat, Udupi Communicable Diseases Controller.  This program was conducted in the background of the high incidence of dengue cases in this environment last year and the current increase in dengue cases in the district.

Journalists visited the Red Cross House, the building under construction and houses around the Press House to survey the larvae of the Aedes mosquito that spreads dengue. Larvae were found in water in flower pot, grinding stone, plastic lids and destroyed. At the same time, pamphlets were distributed to the households, informing them to take care not to stop water and to keep the environment clean.

Health department entomology specialist Mukta, Udupi District Working Journalist Association general secretary Nazir Polya, treasurer Umesh Marpalli, former president Jayakara Suvarna etc. were present on this occasion.
