Udupi, July 12: The city council is working hard to prevent the spread of infectious diseases like dengue, malaria and chicken pox, which are common during the rainy season, and to ban the use of plastic in the Udupi city council.
In this regard, surveys are already being conducted by the Municipal Council, and in the survey conducted in the last couple of days, 9 shop owners not keep cleanliness and fine of a total of Rs. Rs 8,300 fined and 17 shop fronts were raided and a fine of Rs 46,500 was collected under the jurisdiction of the city council that was using plastic.
In spite of the warning of the municipal council, if the shop owners are negligent in keeping the surrounding environment clean and if they are found to be using prohibited plastic, the business license of such shop fronts will be cancelled, said the municipal council commissioner in a release.
