Udupi : A grand Public Felicitation programme has been organized for Mr. Ivan D’Souza, the newly elected Member of the Legislative Council, Government of Karnataka on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 4pm at the Basel Mission Memorial Auditorium, Mission Compound, Udupi.

Addressing a press meet held at Udupi Press Club here on Friday, Monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese said that this program has been jointly organized by the All Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights, Udupi, the CSI, UBMC, the Orthodox Syrian Churches, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, the Catholic Women Association of Udupi Diocese, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement of Udupi Diocese and like- minded people of Udupi diocese.

He said that the Bishop of Udupi diocese Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo will preside over the program, Mr Vinaykumar Sorake will the chief guest and Rev Ivan Soans, Rev Fr. M. C. Mathai, Pastor Selva Kumar and Rev Vijay Harvin will be guests of honor.

He said that Mr. Ivan D’Souza has a vast experience in politics starting from the grass root levels of Grama/Taluk/Zilla Panchayats. He has held various party portfolios at the district and state level. He has contested for the Legislative Assembly twice. He has served as the Member of Legislative Council from 2014 to 2020. Now that he has been elected MLC for second time; hence the Felicitation. Mr Ivan is known for his leadership qualities from his college days. He has displayed a character of courage and confidence in facing challenging situations in life. Ivan is a tireless fighter for truth and justice. He has reached out to a number of needy persons and has been instrumental in getting highest funds(Medical/Education/labourers) from the Chief Minister’s Fund.

He said that the people of Udupi district, in general and the Christian community, in particular rejoices at his Nomination as the member of the Legislative Council for the second time. It is in this context the Christian Community has organized a Public Felicitation Program for Ivan D’Souza to congratulate him and to wish him all success. The organizing committee wishes Mr Ivan the very best.
