Udupi, June 1: Journalists need to dream. The opportunity should be utilized. Along with our work, it is very important to touch the problems of others. Satyabodha Joshi, Professor of Practice, Department of Television and Film Production, Manipal MIC, said that through our service, we can do the work of reforming the society.
He spoke at the inauguration of the press day organized at IMA Bhawan, Brahmagiri, Udupi, under the auspices of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, in collaboration with the Udupi Press Bhavan Committee, by unveiling the original copy of Karnataka’s first newspaper ’Mangalore Samachar’.
We have to take care of our life as we are going to improve the society. It is very important that we pay attention to it. We should all think about what should be done to make this area beautiful for the next generation. The world is made by hard work and not by theory. So work is more important than theory, he said.
The question is whether people will watch literature programs if they are shown on TV media. TV media shows what people want from time to time. Since then, we also have to contribute to the salvation of the society. He opined that people also need to change for that.
District Additional Superintendent of Police S.T.Siddhalingappa gave a special lecture on ’Role of Media in Police Investigation’ and said that the media should not pay too much attention to people’s feelings and realize social responsibility. Since then, people’s mindset has also changed and the question is whether it is going towards narratism. He said that it is very important that we all have to think about it.
It is the responsibility of the media to bring before the people the lapses committed by the Legislature, Judiciary and Executive. This works with social responsibility without taking government facilities. He said that the government has exposed a lot of scandals through the media, and today, instead of physically destroying a person, the media is destroying a person’s character. He said that if the media works with social responsibility, it will be possible to build a healthy society.
