Udupi, August 1: Udupi and Mangalore districts are educationally leading districts. Although Udupi district is a progressive district, the development of education and health sector is stunted. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that strict instructions have been given to the concerned officials to take action to improve the education and health sector of the district.

He addressed a press conference after holding a district progress review meeting in Udupi today.

Udupi district, which was ranked first in the education department during our previous government, has dropped to 13th position in 2023. In 2015, Udupi district was ranked first in the health index and now it is ranked 19th. Maternal mortality was 14 per 1000 in 2015-16. The death rate increased to 126 in 2021-22, 53 in 2023, 51 in 2015-16 and 166 in 2022-23. This reflects the difference between our government and the BJP government , he said.

Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada districts have a problem of sea erosion. Udupi district has 98 km of coastline. He said that the public works department has been instructed to make a DPR to formulate a permanent solution plan for this problem in 3 districts.

Cybercrime, road accidents and deaths have increased in Udupi district, along with the police taking action in this regard, the public works department has been given strict instructions to carry out the national and state highway road repair work. He said that action will be taken ruthlessly against officials who show negligence and indifference to speed up the administration at the district level.
