Udupi : Catholic Sabha is the face of our community in our society. Since its establishment in the year 1989 in Milagres parish, the services, sacrifice and unity towards our community is appreciated, said Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector and Spiritual Director of Milagres Cathedral Catholic Sabha unit and Kallianpur deanery.

In his presiding address during the celebration of Founders’ day of Milagres Cathedral unit at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur here on Sunday, July 2, Fr. Valerian Mendonca said that the theme of our Bishop after the establishment of our diocese should be fulfilled that no one shall remain as needy in our society. The Catholic Sabha in Milagres unit has been doing such marvelous services to our community for decades. He gave gratitude to all the former presidents and secretaries for their valuable services to our community.

Earlier after the beginning prayer, the first and founder secretary of the Milagres Catholic Unit Jeffrey Dias was felicitated by the guests on the dais. Jeffrey Dias spoke during the occasion and he gave some instances and experience during his tenure.

The chief guest on the occasion Santhosh Cornelio, President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh spoke and appreciated the Milagres unit for their valuable contribution to the community as a whole. He said that Milagres Catholic Sabha unit produced two popular presidents for the undivided diocese. The unit services for the unit, for the deanery and for the diocese has been outstanding one through various services.

The former presidents’ and secretaries of the Catholic Sabha Milagres Unit were felicitated with shawl, memento and rose flower by the Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Fr. Joy Andrade and others on the dais. On behalf of honors received, former president of Catholic Sabha Kallianpur deanery Rosy V Baretto shared her experience and thanked the unit for the felicitation.

The former presidents and secretaries’ names were placed by Felciana Lewis, Vice President of the unit.

There were two Presidents Dr. Gerald Pinto and Walter Cyril Pinto from the Milagres for the Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh, then undivided Mangalore diocese. Walter Cyril Pinto was felicitated during the occasion with shawl, memento and rose flower. He spoke after his felicitation and gave gratitude to the concerned.

Joy Andrade Asst. parish priest, Santhosh Cornelio president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Jeffrey Dias, founder secretary of Milagres unit, Melwyn Sequiera, Milagres parish pastoral council vice-president, Prema Lewis Coordinator of parish pastoral commissions, Reginald Lewis president of Milagres Cathedral unit and Marina Lewis Secretary of the unit were present on the dais.

Reginald Lewis welcomed the gathering and Marina Lewis delivered a vote of thanks. Collin D’Souza Designate President of the unit compared the programme.
