Print Udupi : The 11th National Dragon Boat Championship 2023 flagged off at Madisalu river attached to Suvarna River near Herroor near here on Thursday, February 2023 by Raghupathy Bhat Local MLA.
Kayaking and Canoeing Association of Karnataka in association with Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association District administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Udupi district will conduct 11th National level Championship competition from 23 to 26th February 2023.
During the occasion, MAHE Pro-Chancellor Dr. H. S. Ballal, Prashant Kushwaha, President of Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association, Maj. Gen. M. N. Devaya President of Kayaking and Canoeing Association, Karnataka State and Capt. Deleep Kumar Secretary, Manjit Singh Indian Dragon Boat team Captain, Sumithra Nayak Udupi CMC President, Hakay Akshay Machhindra Superintent of Police, Udupi district, Zilla Panahcyat CEO Prasannha H, Uppoor gram panchayat president Mahesh Kotian, Chantaru Grama panchayat opresident Baby, Haradi gram panchayatn president Prabhakar Shetty, Dragon Boat championship tournament Committee president Birthi Rajesh Shetty, Youth Empowerment and Sports Assistant Director Roshan Shetty and others were present on the dais.
In this national level competition, participants from 15 states which around 480 men and 108 women along with more than 24 officials will participate.
There will be total 18 divisions which 200 mtrs, 500 mtrs and 2000 mtrs competitiions. In one boat there will total 10 plus 2 competitors and in second division total 20 plus 2 competitors will allowed.
More than 2000 people can watch the competition along with two sides of river. It looks like festive atmosphere in both the sides of the river.
