Manipal : Karnataka Rakhasana Vedike and Karnataka Karmirakara Vedike were jointly staged protest against the deteriorating the Malpe – Thirathahalli National Highway road at Tigar Circle, Manipal and demand to repair the road immediately here on Saturday, 16^th September, 2017.

During the end of the protest National Highway Authority of India Assistant Engineer Manjunath Nayak visited the protesting leaders. The protestors gave deadline to repair the said deteriorating road within the end of this month.

Addressing the protest on the middle of the road, Ansar Ahmed, District President of KRV said that the National Highway at Manipal completely deteriorated and it has been very difficult to the commuters, pedestrians’ and all the vehicle riders. In regard to the worst condition of the road, Shobha Karandleje MP should response the issue. But Shobha Karandleje has missing in the constituency. Shobha Karandleje should resign immediately which she failed the listen the voters’ views. We do not move from this area unless the officials should come here and hear our demands.

Addressing the protestors, Ravi Shetty President of Udupi District Karmikara Vedike said that so many protests were held here before since one month about the deteriorating situation of the National Highway at Manipal. But any officials, elected people’s representatives not hear the cause of the citizens. Manipal is the centre of Educational institutions as well as large hospital. Large numbers of students across the world living in Manipal. It is our destiny that such area, the road has been in bad shape. We demand to the various officials of the Central as well as State to repair the road immediately, otherwise, the members of KKV will lock the office of the concerned officials.

The NH official Manjunath interacted with the striking persons and said that during the rainy season, repairing the roads not possible. We will wait for the rain break and meantime we do not get fund to repair from the central government. But the protestors not heard his views and demanding immediate repair the road whatsoever within 15 days.

Prasannha Kumar Shetty State Convener of KRV also spoke during the protest meet. Santhosh Shetty Panjimar District Hon. President, Praveen Barkur, Umesh Jogi, Shahil Rahmatulla and others were present.
