Udupi Zilla Panchayat members louded the KSRTC better services in the district

Manipal : The KSRTC bus services in the district have been good response by the public and the services will be appreciated in the 7th meeting of Zilla Panchayat held at Dr. V. S. Acharya Hall, Rajathadri, here on Thursday, 22nd June, 2017.
The Zilla Panchayat members were demanded that more KSRTC bus services in the district, especially in rural areas.
The meeting was chaired by Dinakar Babu, President of Zilla Panchayt. The Social Standing committee president Babu Shetty, Gauri Devadiga, Janardhan Thonse, Shobha G Puthran also demanded better services and resolve some of the problems like time management of the KSRTC buses on the routes.The members also demanded the more buses in rural areas.
Janardhan Tonse said that the funds not released for the Basava Vasanthi Housing scheme Yojane despite the beneficiaries submitting all required formalities. It may held due to some confusion in spite of having GPS. The gram panchayats have so far collected only 40 percent of tax dues and need to convene a separate meeting to bring pressure on local bodies to improve their revenue collections.
Zilla Panchayat members have stressed immediate solution for ongoing sand crisis since one and half year and District administration responsible and accountable for the crisis. Gopala Poojary, Byndoor MLA said that the district administration has failed to negotiate with the government for a separate sand policy for the coastal districts.
Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis CEO of ZP said that the district administration has already furnished all information as directed by the National Green Tribunal in Chennai to vacate the stay order. Whatever the complications prevailed in the process of sand extraction in CRZ area will be sorted out after the rainy season.
Member Uday Kotian said the wild animal menace has not been controlled in Bailur-Karkala area. The reserve forest area has not fenced and the wild animals due to that get into roads and cause accidents. Plantation crops are destroyed and the deers and peacocks have been damaging the crops. The assistant conservator of forests said a proposal has been sent to the higher authorities for installing the fence the area. The compensation has been doubled for the victims and for the crops destroyed by the wild animals.
The CEO said that the survey of the area to be arranged where the wild life issues exist. The wild animals without food have been venturing into the human habitant.
In regard to Varahi irrigation canal, Babu Shetty said that around 26km from left bank canal at Molahalli has occurred in major crop damage, The compensation for the farmers due to crop damage has few. The contractors should be blacklisted as the farm fields in the area are filled with sultry mud. There is cultivation not possible due to sultry mud. Two wells have been buried due to the flow of water and mud. No action will be taken in this regard. The DC said that she will take disciplinary action against the contractors as well as the engineers and ordered the Varahi Engineering department should furnish a detailed report within a week and compensation amount should be increased.
Gopala Poojary raised the issue of Vishalakshi hailed from Kundarpur who died after snakebite at the government hospital which he alleged that the doctors and nurses were had shown negligence towards patient and their rude behavior with the patient. Rohini the district health official said that the investigation being undertaking into the issue. DC warned the health officials about the issue.
Earlier Sakshi daughter of Ganesh Koraga was felicitated prior to the meeting who securing 1148th rank in IIT examinations. Meanwhile topers of SSLC in the districts also felicitated.
Sheela K. Shetty, Vice President, Uday S Kotian, president of Education and Health standing committee, Babu Shetty President of Social standing committee, Shashikanth Padubidri president of Agriculture and industry standing committee, Pratapchandra Shetty MLC and others were present during the meeting.
