Doha: To commemorate the occasion of 6th Qatar National Sport Day, on 14th February 2017.  Indian Sport Centre (ISC), under the patronage of Embassy of India, has organized various sports events in different location across Qatar. The events were to bring together the Indian community of all ages with the main objective in promoting a healthy lifestyle among its population.

One of the most impressive events of the day was the table tennis tournament held at Qatar Table Tennis Training Center, Doha. The tournament was managed under the prominent leadership of Simon D’Silva, Head of Indoor Games and Badminton. The response of participation was in huge numbers and the games were played under 6 categories of both male and female of different age groups. 

The event started at 10.30 am in the morning and was successfully administered by the team of Coordinators; Edson Fernandes, Merwyn Ferrao, Bala Salunke, Ameya, Seby and Godfrey Noronha. The event was captured with an official photography by Jerald D’souza.

The Chief guest for the event was H.E. P. Kumaran, Ambassador of India to Qatar, Guest of Honors Padmashree Zafar Iqbal, former captain of Indian hockey team and Thani Al-Zarraa, Board Member of Q.T.T.A. Also present were other renowned personalities like Nilangshu Dey, President of ISC, Habibun Nabi, General secretary of ISC, Ziad Mohammed Abu Karaki, Technical Secretary of Q.T.T.A., Chief Officer of ISC and Defence Attache at Indian Embassy, Capt. Ravi Kumar, Chairmen of ISC Hassan Chowgule, Azzim Abbas, M. S. Bhukari and Head of Indoor Games & Badminton of ISC Simon D’Silva.

The event was a display of real positive energy, talent in young & old and sporting spirit. The winners in different categories were as follow: Boys age10 to 14 years- 1st place Mishal Riyas, 2nd place Gopalan Sunil and 3rd place Aadi Arora. Girls age10 to 14 years- 1st place Stacey Singh, 2nd place Afiya Haroon. Boys age14 to 18 years- 1st place Kashif Minhaj, 2nd place Mithun Menon. Men age18 to 30 years- 1st place Errol Basil, 2nd place Goran Monteiro. And the last category men age 30 plus - 1st place Vikram Arora, 2nd place Habibun Nabi and 3rd place Lloyd Fernandes.
