Udupi : Newly constructed Women Hi-tech Fish Market building inaugurated at Udupi, near Diana Circle, PPC Road here on Saturday, 14^th January, 2017 by Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment, State of Karnataka.

After the inauguration, Pramod Madhwaraj said that there is five years history to construct the new fish market building. Then ruling BJP in Municipality as well as in state proposed to construct the new building. There was no work was done to construct the new building. After the congress came into the power, temporarily tent fish market established at Beedinagudde, Udupi. There was plenty of reasons to delay in constructing Hi-tech first market for women. At last it is on Makarasankranthi day, the new Hi-tech fish market established with the cost of Rs. 3.38 crores.

There are 154 retail vendors, 13 dry vendors, 4 whole vendors and three shell fish vendors counters established. Total 174 vendors can sell the fish included dry fish vendors.

Costal Development Authority Secretary Pradeep D’Souza welcomed the gatherings. Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje Udupi Municipal Council President, Kota Srinivas Poojary MLC, Smt Sandhya Tilakraj, Geetha Ravi Sheth Municipal councilor, Baby S. Salian Udupi Taluk Dry Fish Trading Association, D. Manjunathaiah Udupi Municipal Commissioner, Sathish Amin Padukeri, Narasimha Murthy President of Udupi Urban Development Authority and other among were present on the dais.

Pramod Madhwaraj was felicitated by the fish vendors and other guests on the dais .Confirmation certificate were distributed to the women fish vendors during the occasion,  Sathish Shetty compered the programme.
