Udupi : Small and medium scale industries would help in generating the employment for the youth. It was necessary to promote industrial development in Udupi district, said Dinakar Babu, President of Udupi Zilla Panchayat.

He was speaking after inaugurating the National Vendor Development Programme – cum – Industrial Exhibition organized by Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises, the Department of Industries and Commerce and Industries, MSME Development Institute, Mangaluru Branch, District Industries Centre, Udupi, District Small Industries Association, Manipal, Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday, 11^th January, 2017 at Udupi Town Hall, Ajjarkad, Udupi.

He said that the Udupi district was known for providing quality education. After the their quality education, youth should get employment. This event should be flat form for the development of small scale industries as well as employment for the youth.

Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje President of Udupi Municipal Council said that due to the demonetization of the currency the micro and small scale industries hit very badly. To expose the educated youth to the capabilities of different sectors of Indian enterprises by which  enticing them to take up entrepreneurship as their career as well. She wished the organizers due to the event and exhibition of the various products, Udupi people should take advantage from the National Vendor Development programme.

H. R. Sharma, Deputy Director General, Directorate of Supplies and Disposal, said that last year the directorate began the government e-marketplace, https://gem.gov.in. It will helped government officers and various departments in purchasing goods and services.

S. N. Rangaprasad, Director, MSME Development Institute, presided over the programme. H. Sudheer Nayak President, District Small Industries Association, Udupi, Sri Kishore Alva Joint President, Adani-UPCL, Udupi, Sri Krishna Rao Kodancha President, Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Udupi Ramananda Nayak Joint Director, District Industries Centre, Udupi were present on the dais.

The programme began with invocation. K. Sorates Deputy Director, Branch MSME-DL, Mangaluru welcomed the gatherings. S. N. Rangaprasad gave his presidential address. Sri Ramananda Nayak proposed vote of thanks.

As many as 70 stalls including those Kudremukh Iron Ore Company, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, South Western Railway, ADANI, Banks and others put up at the exhibition.
