Udupi : The restriction of CRZ limit will be reduced to 50 meter from 500 meter, got the clearance from the Environment secretariat and waiting for the clearance from the Prime Minister’s office, New Delhi, said Vinay Kumar Sorake Kaup MLA and former Minister of Karnataka.

He was speaking on during the 6^th general meeting of Taluk Panchayat members at Udupi, said that after the signature of Prime Minister new law will be come in force to all coastal areas of the country and it will benefited coastal Karnataka also. He said the CRZ laws came into force on 2006. There will be scope for the right prior to 1991 records of ownership for the rights.

Dinesh Kotian of Palimar said that the water in the Adve river near Palimar has contaminated with chemicals which impossible to use. Various poisonous insects created in the river which dangerous to the health point of view. Health officials responded positively for the said problems. But miscreants had made problem in mini dam and later police complaint also lodged to arrest miscreants. The response from environment department after collecting water for inspection also not received. The areas of Adve – Nadikoor water wells also contaminated and there has been the problem of drinking water. The officials should make arrangement for the drinking water at the earliest.

Sudheer Kumar Shetty said that there has been severe sand availability problem for lot of people who going for the construction of houses and others. It is not fair that the sand mining giving to contractors instead of local people. The sand mining issue is in court, but due to non availability of the sand, poor people will suffer due to the non availability of the sand. Contractors will get the sand which removed at night.

On account of sandmining no grama panchayats were collected the taxes. Government earlier implemented that 25% money will be given to grama panchayats by the Mining department. But no money was received by the grama panchayats, said Sudheer Kumar Shetty.

Vinay Kumar Sorake said that he will go through with the government regarding the money allotment to the grama panchayats on the sand mining taxes issue.

Kota Srinivas Poojary MLC asked the taluk panchayat members that any enquiries or questions during the meeting, written questions will be helpful to submit proper statistics during the meeting. He requested members to produce written questions prior to the meeting.

Nalini Pradeep Rao President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Rajendra Pandubettu, Sheshappa R. Chief Executive officer, Neetha Gururaj Social Justice Committee President were present.

Ramesh Michael D’souza, Dr. Suneetha Shetty, Dinakar Poojary, Vashanthi Poojary, Laxminarayana Prabhu and other among members were present during the meeting.
