Udupi : Along with the academic studies, one must also give equal importance to sports, then only there would be a proper physical and mental growth of the students, said Alexander Lewis, Alumni of Milagres College and Editor in chief of kemmannu.com.

Addressing in his chief guest speech on the occasion of Milagres PU College & Degree College annual sports meet iauguration on Wednesday, 21^st December, 2016 at Milagres College ground, Kallianpur, he said it is great privilege to one of Alumni of the great institution of Milagres College. It was wonderful to witness the guard of honour by the great sport students of the College. He later declared annual sports open.

Earlier, the chief guest Alexander Lewis witnessed and took the guard of honour from athletes. The college flag was ceremoniously received by Dr. Gerald Pinto which handed over by the NCC cadets. College flag was hoisted by Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions. Blencil Lewis took oath from leaders of the athlets.

The guest of honor present during the inaugural ceremony were Richard D’Souza, Clement D’ Souza and Augustine Dias former physical directors’ of the college, Belinda D’Souza, Praveen D’Souza, Ronald Rajesh Lewis Alumni of College, Dr. Gerald Pinto Principal of degree College and Mrs Hande Principal of Milagres PU College, Rev Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino Campus Director and other among were present.

All the former Physical directors Richard D’Souza, Clement D’souza and Augustine Dias were felicitated during the occasion. All former physical directors spoke during the programme and placed their experience during their service in the college.

Olympic torch was received by the Correspondent which brought by national level players like Bernard D’souza, Blencil Lewis and others. The chief guest of the occasion Alexander Lewis released the colorful balloons to the air.  Rev Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino also spoke during the occasion.

Earlier, Dr. Gerald Pinto welcomed the gatherings. Joseph Fernandes compered the programme. Dolwin Dias proposed vote of thanks.

Two days sports meet will be held at the college grounds for both Milagres PU College and Degree College. National level participated players will show their performances during the college annual sports meet.
