Kemmannu, Nov 21, 2024: The Historic Thonse Padumane Kambala (Wet Land buffalo race) is scheduled to be held on Sunday 8th December, 2024. This is one of the famous Kambl’s of the Kolke summer paddy season in the Udupi District.
Thonse Padumane Kambala has a history of over a hundred years. It is said that 100 to 200 pairs of buffalos took part in the Kambala in the early 19th century. Due to the decline of agriculture in the area, the number has declined and an average 30 pairs are taking part these days.
The Thonse Padumane kambala attracts participants from all over the coastal area of undivided south Kanara.
