Parent Teacher’s Meeting held at National PU College, Barkur.
The Kala Bhuvana Auditorium of the College has become the venue for the much awaited coming together of the parents of PU Students of National Junior College, the Lecturers and Students.
At 2.30 pm, on Friday, 27th September, 2024, the interactive session was given a start with prayer hymn by the students. The Chief Guest of the programme, Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty, the Secretary of The Barkur Educational Society, Correspondent Mr Gopala Naik, Admn Coordinator of National Educational Institutions P. Archibald Furtado, PTA representative in the Managing Committee Mr Raj Gopal Nambiar were present as the Principal Prof U Kottraswamy presided over the short stage programme.
Mrs Jyothi, Lecturer in Kannada, extended a cordial welcome to all the distinguished guests especially the parents & guardians of students, who were gathered in large number.
‘While acknowledging the presence of enthusiastic parents, Mr Archibald Furtado, informed, ‘ being the first and important stake holders you the parents must visit the college very often and make the habit of meeting the Principal and respective teachers, as two years PU stage of education will be the precursor for the future of your wards’
National level Best Teacher Award winning Head master of yester years and currently the Secretary of the Barkur Education Society Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty, in his keynote address, dealt upon various subjects. How young and tender minds of teenagers and youth are polluted and consequently mislead, by social media and excessive use of Mobile phones, the role of anti-social elements in ruining the careers, and responsibilities of parents to be careful and cautious in providing these facilities, was highlighted with specific incidents. He assured that the NJC Management, Principal and team of both qualified and experienced lecturers always kept safety and care of students as its priority and advised parents to keep a watchful eye, by giving more time and caring them with love at homes. Teachers, parents and Students work in union with goals set as the Mgmt made arrangements for all infra structure facilities for a healthy learning atmosphere’, he reassured all parents.
Correspondent of PU AND High School, Mr Gopala Naik in his message, ‘we gave much significance to character building, ethics, value education with knowledge and overall development of students in these temple of learning, the National Educational Institutions’, and insisted parents to encourage their wards to study and revise what they learned here, regularly at homes too.
Principal Prof U. Kottraswamy, in his presidential address, shared his special concern and constant follow up by parents. He expected the co-operation of parents and elders at home by keeping a constant eye on their daily routine, especially ensuring their attendance to regular lectures. ‘Your sons and daughters are ours, while they are in the Campus and each student is a valuable person and their life, studies and career is our priority too’ he told. While continuing he insisted each parent to meet their respective Lecturers individually even after the formal session to get the details.

Earlier the Progress Reports reviewed & Attendance Records were shown to all parents. All lecturers from the departments of languages, Arts, Commerce and Science streams with Principal were available for personal meeting / interaction /consultation with parents and their respective children for one to one discussion and appraisal.
As a whole this meeting was the need of the hour, to make parents to understand the students, and certain issues, an opportunity to parents to meet the Principal and teachers and most importantly an occasion to all the teachers to build a personal rapport to ensure the parents ‘it’s a joint responsibility to nurture young minds at right directions’ as many parents wanted to have such meetings more often at regular intervals.
