Kannada Department of Mumbai University; Niranjan centenary-lecture-Release of Six Books

Mumbai, Apl.13: Reading is important to strengthen life. Only those who read can do the work of reading. All writers are literate and intellectual. National Economic Adviser and Bunts Sangha Mumbai president Praveen Bhoja Shetty, said that creation of such works is possible only when one looks closely at the most sensitive aspects of life.

He spoke at the Inauguration of 46th celebration of Kannada Department, Niranjan centenary, lecture and release of six works organized by the Kannada Department of Mumbai University on Saturday afternoon at G.P Nayak Hall, Kalina Vidyanagari, Santacruz East.

The program preside by the Mumbai University Kannada Department Head and Professor Dr G.N Upadhyay, Journalist Chandrashekar Palethady was present as a guest. Leela B. Shetty Award ’Shodhasiri Puraskar’ was presented to Student Surekha Hariprasad Shetty, researcher of the Kannada Department, and Karnoor Mohan Rai, the organizer in Mumbai, was felicitated by awarding them meritorious honor.

Palethady gave a special lecture on Journalism and Writing, Journalism is the confluence of employment and industry. A journalist’s news should be beneficial to the public. Accuracy, honest writing with clean language is a must for a press report and only the honest deserve to be in the media. He said that the reporting news of such people will never get stale.

Dr.G.N Upadhyay spoke about the 5-step program has been successfully completed. Mumbai University is one of the oldest universities in the country. The Kannada department has been working hard for the last 45 years. Kannada department also has the honor of producing the many number of Books. The works created by the talented students here will last for a long time. The role of the Tuluvas in preserving and developing the Kannada language in Mumbai is significant. Also, the role of Tulu Kannadigas in developing it as a cultural city is important. The work of building Kannada has to be done continuously.

On this occasion, a total of six Books were Launched simultaneously, Dr.G.N Upadhyay creation ’Sahitya Siddhi Sirisevaya Sakara-da’ by Dr.Sudha Murthy’s work, From Wrods to Noble Deeds-The inspiring Tale of Dr. Sudha Murthy translated by M.A. Student Vidya Ramakrishna of Kannada department, Associate Professor of Kannada Department Dr. Pornima Sudhakar Shetty’s Nanna Ittichina Ohdu (’My Latest  Reading’) Released by Praveen Bhoja Shetty, ’Rasarishi Rashtrakavi Kuvempu’ Book Kannada Department Researcher Vidyathini Kala Bhagwat’s ’Jalandara’ Released by Chandrashekar, Kannada Department’s MA Vidyathini Savita Arun Shetty’s ’Belakindi’ Released by Dr. Upadhyay.

Kannada Department Student S.Nalina Prasad, Kannada Learning Class Teacher Geeta Manjunath, Research Student Surekha Hariprasad Shetty, MA Student Vikram Joshi, Visiting Professor Dr. Uma Ramrao introduced spoke about the Books.

Gulbarga University Kalaburagi Prasaranga Science and Dr. B.R Ambedkar about Dundiraj’s contribution to Kannada literature in state level book prize scheme for works written on was selected by Prof. Dr. G.N Upadhyay’s Karnataka Rajyotsava Award with Rupees 5,000/-, Award Plaque (sent) was given  to Dr. Upadhyay  by Praveen Shetty and Congratulated him.

Dignitaries like Kolyaru Raju Shetty, S.K Sundar, Mitra Venkatraj, Nithyananda D. Kotyan, Mohan Marnad, Surendra Marnad, Arun Shetty, Chidananda Bhagwat, Mahesh Ganapathy Hegde, Svikrathi Sudhakar Shetty, Vasudeva Murthy etc. were present in the program and congratulated the writers and the awardees.

Dr. Poornima Sudhakar Shetty welcomed and introduced the guests with introductory remarks and narrated the program. Student Shekhar Shetty of the department gave condolence message to Kukke Subrahmanya Kulakunda of Dakshina Kannada district on the Karnataka coast, originally Writer Niranjan (Kulakunda Shivaraya), the first columnist in Kannada. Kumuda Alva deliver vote of thanks.
