“Celebration of 76th Independence Day” at University Evening College, Mangaluru

Mangaluru: University Evening College, Mangaluru celebrated the “76th Independence day” on the occasion of Azaadi Ka Amrith Mahotsav on Monday the 15th August 2022 at the Shivaram Karanth Bhavana.

After the hoisting of the flag the programme was inaugurated by the lighting of lamp by the chief guest Captain Damodhar S., Retired Army Officer of The Indian Army. He expressed, it is the responsibility of every citizen to preserve our freedom. We should be grateful to our Mother India and all the freedom fighters who have sacrificed their lives for our Country.

Key Speaker Shri Chandrahas Kananthoor Retired Accountant- Employees Provident Fund Office, spoke on” Freedom fights in Dakshina Kannada” and gave a clear picture about the Amara Sullia Movement  and Bheekara Rana Katte Incident and its history.

Dr. Subhashini Srivathsa – Principal of University Evening College, Mangaluru in her presidential Remarks said that Freedom is to liberalise us from slavery, selfishness, fear, ego, zealousy and lazyness among us. Hence there is a need to celebrate this day to remember the value of freedom forever.

Dr. Madhav M K-Co-ordinator of MA Tulu and Dr Jagadeesh Co-ordinator of MCom and MBA (IB) spoke about the importance of fight for freedom. Dr Devdas Pai –Co-ordinator of  MA Tulu and Dr. Yathish Kumar Co-ordinator of GST were present. Dr. Rathi the Nodal Officer of the program rendered the vote of thanks. Mrs. Ashalatha lecturer of kannada composed the programme. Mrs. Prashanthi lecturer of MA Tulu welcomed the guests. Lecturer of History Mrs. Madhushree J Shriyan conducted the prize distribution. On this occasion, prizes were distributed to all the winners of various competitions held under the auspices of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. Teaching and non-teaching staff and the students of UECM were present.
