Mumbai Sept. 02 :- A 50 – member delegation of tribal leaders from Maharashtra led by former Minister and Working President of Akhil Bhartiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad Madhukarrao Pichad met the Governor of Maharashtra Ch Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan; Mumbai and submitted a memorandum containing various demands of the Scheduled Tribes to the Governor.

Shri Pichad urged the Governor not to allow inclusion of any community in the Scheduled Tribes. He demanded implementation of the recommendations of the report of the Dr Vijay Kelkar Committee pertaining to Scheduled Tribes. Alleging that more than 80; 000 non-tribals are occupying various posts reserved for tribals in the State Government using bogus certificates; he sought action against such employees. The delegation demanded that the land belonging to the Scheduled Tribes be protected.

The delegation also raised demands for reorganization of Scheduled Areas; Provision of books; notebooks; clothes and other facilities to tribal students of Ashram Shalas; Incorporating tribals from Maharashtra in Schedule VI of the Constitution and others. The Governor assured the delegation that he will discuss the issues raised by the members with the Chief Minister. Former Ministers Shivajirao Moghe; Vasant Purke; Padmakar Walvi and others were present
