This is our clarification to report on "Pesticide found in milk brand rsquo;Nandini rsquo; On 24th August,Hindustan Times reported as ....when the Nandini Full Cream Milk sample was detected with pesticide, we picked up more samples of the same brand, which were also found to have pesticide over permissible limits,†said Gaurav Maheshwari, founder of WiseTummy.com.

When Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) started verifying the veracity of this report, on 25th August, they changed the report as ".. Only when the Nandini Full Cream Milk sample was detected with pesticide, we picked up two more samples of the same brand. However, those were not detected with pesticides." Contradicting!

The report says brands in Bangalore Chennai were tested. But tests not conducted in Bangalore, but only in Chennai. The picture of NANDINI milk packet shown in HT News report is not sold in Chennai at all. Lot of fabrications found in the report. KMF is investigating to find out intentions behind this episode.

NANDINI milk is fully free from pesticides as evident in 100s of test reports obtained by KMF from internationally reputed labs, such as TUV and others. We urge consumers to be assured of quality.

Pesticide found in Karnataka’s famous brand ’Nandini’

New Delhi/Bengaluru: In a recent research conducted, popular brand Nandini’s product Full Cream Milk was found to contain cypermethrin content at 0.014 mg per litre which was 40% higher than the permissible limit.
 
The pesticide cypermethrin gets accumulated in body fat of cows that are fed on byproducts of crops heavily prayed with pesticides, such as husk from cotton, sugarcane or wheat.
 
Researchers said that initially they chose one packet of milk as sample for every brand. But the pesticide was found only in the Nandini Full Cream Milk sample. Other samples of the same brand which were checked were also found to have pesticide over permissible limits.
 
Experts are of the opinion that, even if consumed daily in small amounts, cypermethrin is capable of causing cancer. In this case, if breast feeding mothers consume the milk, it can be harmful for the child as the breast milk also would get affected.
 
However, it is shocking to know that a huge brand like Nandini contains pesticides.
 
The whole idea of checking food items was done after Maggi noodles contained certain components that were harmful.
