Mumbai: It was a resplendent and blingy Bollywood affair that Akshay Kumar hosted on Wednesday (August 19) at the trailer launch of Singh is Bling in Mumbai. The venue chosen was a single screen theatre as opposed to a multiplex. Needless to say as word spread about Akshay Kumar’s impending arrival, fans both kids and adults thronged the venue to catch a glimpse of the Khiladi Kumar. And their wait was definitely worth it for Akshay stormed into the venue dressed in his Sikh avatar driving a tractor with his beautiful heroine, Amy Jackson in tow.

As dancers performed the popular bhangra, Akshay too shook a leg to a popular number from their movie. While it was mayhem outside with the crowd almost spiralling out of control, fans and media waited inside and welcomed both Akshay Kumar and his trailer with wolf whistles. A happy Akshay acknowledged the cheers flowing in for him and kickstarted the proceedings by joking about how he had to bribe the tractor owner to allow him (Akshay) to take the wheels. Akshay Kumar also looked delighted at male fans screaming ‘I love you Akshay’ though with a hint of sarcasm exclaimed that it’s banned for men to say ‘I love you’ to each other in our country.

Prabhudheva Lara Dutta excited to shoot ’Singh is Bliing’ with Akshay Kumar Akshay Kumar starts shooting for ‘Singh is Bliing’, Akshay Kumar said: “I have been doing a lot of serious films lately like Baby, Brothers, Gabbar Is Back. After almost two years, I will have a comedy releasing. This film is for the masses and will be an out-and-out masaaledaar film. ” Akshay Kumar also clarified that ‘Singh is Bliing’ is not a sequel of ‘Singh is Kinng’. “This is a new story. I play Raftaar Singh in the movie. This film goes to different places and has thriller, comedy and family values.

My character is extremely afraid of his father, very obedient and listens to every word of him. The movie is not extremely emotional and is in the same genre of Rowdy Rathore.” The movie is directed by Prabhu Dheva whom Akshay praised for his abilities in helming a movie that is at its heart, Punjabi. “Singh is King was directed by a Muslim Anees Bazmee and this one has a south Indian directing it. I don’t think you need to be a Punjabi or a man of the same religion or faith to direct it. This only goes to show how strong our unity in diversity where any Indian can direct any film.” Akshay Kumar also shared his delight at working with Amy Jackson and said: “Amy is excellent in fights. She is beautiful and talented as well.” Singh is Bliing is going to release on October 2, 2015.
