Mumbai: The morning of 14th August 2015, brought all together a new sunrise as everyone who entered the school promises saw the school in gleam of celebration of the proud 69th Independence Day. The aura was spell bounding as the entrance was decorated beautifully with the tricolour balloons.

The celebrations began with flag hoisting by the school’s director and principal Mr. Nicholas Gomes, which was followed by the National Anthem. Principal Sir addressed the gathering and brought back the memories of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to attain this invaluable independence. Kavya Singh of grade VII delivered a speech in Hindi with a tribute to National Heroes. Dishita Lohra of class VII recited the legendary poem ‘’Where the mind is without fear’’. Everyone danced into the tunes of ‘’Suno gaur se duniya walo’’, where the blooming buds of nursery performed and won hearts with their smiles. Arya Adya, Yash, Priyal expressed their views on the importance of freedom through a very inspiring speech. Students of grade 4-5 presented a fusion in dance medley and everyone clapped to applaud the performance. Followed by it came the little performers of Nursery and kindergarten, who were dressed up as the national heroes. Seeing little Rani Laxmi Bai, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh was mesmerizing. The special attraction of the day was the school choir who sang in English, Hindi, Bangla, and Malayalam to showcase Unity in Diversity. The programme concluded with the address of Director Sir, who congratulated the students and the staff on the eve of the Independence Day and inspired them to work hard, as sky is the limit for Xaverians and zenith is the bottom.
