Kemmannu News Network, 27-07-2015 11:52:29
MANGALORE July 23: A real journalist is one who recognizes the pains and pleasures of others. We should develop the personality of moving with others with happiness. It is not possible to become a journalist without studiousness”, said Mr. Manohar Prasad, Beuro Chief of Udayavani Mangaluru. He spoke these words while presiding over the first seminar on ‘Media: Social Commitment – Security’ conducted at Media Conference 2015 on Wednesday which was organized by Bantwal Taluk Karyaniratha Pathrakarthara Sangha under the leadership of Madhyama Sammelan Samiti at Shri Gurudeva Jnana mandira of Odiyoor Shri Gurudevadutta Samsthan.“Reporting without statistical data and accurate information is worthless.

Journalist Dhananjaya Moodubidri, Kalim Seraji, students of Vivekananda College – Karthik, Praveen, Sagar Hegde participated in the discussion.
On this occasion, Bantwala President of Taluk Karyaniratha Pathrakarthara Sangha – Mounesh Vishwakarma and Belthangady Vice President – R N Puvani were present. The Vice President of Madhyama Sammelan Samiti – Rathnadev Shetty Punjalkatte welcomed the gathering. Jayaprakash Shetty, the teacher proposed the vote of thanks. Gopala Anchan, the member compered the programme.
“Finding out the real colors of pretenders has become the work of journalists. They should have an attitude of thinking about the essence of life. Press field is not the right place for people having love for money, vehicles, things, etc.”, said Mr. G K Madhyastha, the senior journalist of Udupi. Mr. Madhyastha presided over the second seminar on “Journalists: Challenges” at Media Conference 2015.
Dr. Varadesha Hiregange, the Director of Gandhi and Peace Research Institution of Manipal University said, “It’s a great challenge on the part of journalists to grasp news in a right way. Knowledge about the content and study attitude strengthen the report. Many things are possible through journalism and many changeable works can be done through it. They should develop the attitude of fighting without any fear once they enter the field”.
Mr. Chidambara Baikampady, the senior journalist of Mangaluru said, “There is a question of how much opportunity is available to a journalist in expressing the zigzags of the society without any fear. The present life of journalist suffers much and makes them forget the social responsibility. Journalists are confused and are unable to show commitment to their profession”.
Mr. U.K. Kumaranath, the local editor of Vijaya Karnataka said, “Journalists who come to this field for their livelihood have to be under many restrictions. Prevalence of insecurity in journalism field has become normal. Journalist who highlights the problems of rural area is honored by people. Only the press institutions are fighting and not the journalists”.
Dr. Sadananda Perla, the Programme Manager of Mangaluru Akashavani and the writer said, “Journalists are leading their life between incompatibility and independence. The society recognizes a journalist when he reports about the fulfillment of development of the society rather than reporting anything against the society. Capitalists are leading the media field which is the actual status now”.
Mr. B.A. Khader Shaw, the Press Officer of the District said, “Changes in the system is possible through good writings. Journalists have shown their commitment by writing about Puttur market place, widening Vitla road, etc”.
