People in Vrindavan tried to gather as much as they could as money fell from the skies. It was no miracle though, but the handiwork of a monkey which had relieved a devotee of her purse which contained close to Rs 1.5 lakh.
Hemvati Sonkar from Borivali in Mumbai had just offered prayers at the Banke Bihari temple when the simian snatched her bag reported Times of India. It then sat on a ledge and managed to unbundle a few notes and flung them in the air.
She was on a trip with her family to Agra, Mathura and Vrindavan and was scheduled to return to Mumbai via New Delhi on Sunday. To add insult to injury, while the whole incident was unfolding the family also had a mobile phone worth Rs 30,000 stolen.
Recently, a 75-year-old man Madhav Kunj reportedly died after falling from a terrace while being chased by monkeys.
