Unwed mother denies to accept baby girl; Infant sent to child care centre

Print Sullia : A tense situation prevailed in a private hospital in Sullia on Monday, April 27 after a young girl who delivered a baby expressed her wish to abandoned the new born in the hospital.
According to sources, girl hailing from Ajjavar who was working in Mangaluru was impregnated by a youth and the unmarried girl had come for delivery here. However, she refused to take the baby girl along with her.
The locals who were present at the spot created commotion claiming that the hospital was involved in selling the baby. After several arguments and discussions, the young girl and her mother who denied to accept the baby owing to certain problems, urged the officer and the police to leave the baby under the care of sevashram in Puttur.
Sullia police have registered a case and have decided to leave the baby at Puttur child care centre.
Woman found dead under mysterious circumstances in Thekatte
Thekatte : A 45-year-old woman was found dead in a field under mysterious circumstances, at Malyadi here on Monday, April 27.
The deceased is Shashikala, a resident of Koraga colony of Kumbasi.
Since there are injuries on her head, the locals say that Shashikala must have accidentally fallen into the field while walking on the street, which must have led to her death.
Kota police who visited the spot have sent the body for autopsy and interrogated the deceased’s son Prabhakar.
A case has been registered.
