Udupi : Following differences of opinion between the members of the party, Udupi district Janata Dal (Secular) President Deviprasad Shetty resigned from his post on Thursday, April 16. His resignation, which was tendered to party supremo H D Deve Gowda, is yet to be accepted.
Addressing the reporters at Press Club here today, Shetty stated that he has not resigned from his primary membership.
"As a party President from last 15 years in Udupi district, I was able to execute various activities for the party. As the party members are moving out for various reasons, I would like to stay out from the position and continue my work. There are no personal reasons or clashes involved with the resignation," he added.
He thanked the party members and supporters for their co-operation during his tenure as the District President.
Revealing his disinterest in participation in the upcoming panchayat elections, Shetty said that he has not thought about contesting for the post of President of Belapu village panchayat where he has brought tremendous developments.
