Print US Consul General says, further improvement in ease of doing business will bring more investment to India
The Consul General of the United States of America in Mumbai Thomas Vajda today said further improvement in the ease of doing business will bring more American investment to India.
Observing that many American companies including General Motors, General Electric, Johnson & Johnson, Honeywell are ‘already making in India’, he said American companies are optimistic that reforms in this regard will continue.
The Consul General was speaking to the Governor of Maharashtra Ch Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai during a courtesy call on Thursday (2 April).
The Consul General expressed happiness that there has been follow up from the United States and India on various issues of agreement entered by the two countries during the visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States and the visit by President Obama to India.
Mr Thomas Vajda informed the Governor about the scheduled visits to India by Treasury Secretary, Transport Secretary and other cabinet level officials from the United States. Mentioning that more than 100,000 Indian students are studying in the United States, he remarked that Indians are favourably disposed towards America.
Welcoming the Consul General, Governor Vidyasagar Rao remarked that the relations between India and the United States have further strengthened following the visits by India’s Prime Minister to the United States and the reciprocal visit by the American President to India.
The Governor said as Chancellor of Universities in Maharashtra, he will welcome cooperation between the universities in Maharashtra and the Universities in the United States. He further said Maharashtra will welcome cooperation in areas such as waste management, solar power generation, student-exchange and skill development.
