Group assaults private hospital doctors,staff, damages ICU
A group of 20 persons have been accused of assaulting three doctors and damaging the door of the intensive care unit of a private hospital while taking away a road accident victim from the hospital to another hospital. According to the complaint, Tamim Iqbal and Zakir, the two 15-year-old boys who were injured in a road accident in Manjanady on March 31, were brought to the K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) and they were in the intensive care unit. A group of 20 persons barged into the ICU, had arguments with hospital personnel and doctors and forcefully took Zakir out of the ICU. While going out they damaged the door of the ICU. After putting Zakir into an ambulance, the group assaulted Viraj, Vinay and Bijit who were in the vehicle and pushed them out. The group took away Zakir to a private hospital at the Bhagwan Mahavir Junction. Zakir died in the hospital on the same night, while Tamim Iqbal succumbed to his injuries in KSHEMA. A complaint was filed at the Ullal police station on Thursday. Six injured in accident Six persons were injured after a lorry rammed a private city bus in Kulai, near Surathkal, on the Udupi-Mangaluru stretch of the National Highway on Friday. According to eyewitness accounts, the private bus and the lorry were coming towards Mangaluru. The lorry which was following the bus rammed into itwhen the bus halted to pick up passengers around 7 a.m. Some bus passengers and the cleaner of the lorry have been injured. They have been moved to private hospitals nearby. The police took help of a crane to move the bus aside.
Six injured in accident
Six persons were injured after a lorry rammed a private city bus in Kulai, near Surathkal, on the Udupi-Mangaluru stretch of the National Highway on Friday.

Man found dead
A 27-year-old event organizer was found dead in the bathroom of a rehabilitation centre in Capitanio on Friday.
The Mangaluru Rural police said Alwyn, a resident of Kalmady in Udupi district, had been staying in the rehabilitation centre since last few months.
On Friday morning, he was found hanging from the window of bathroom in the centre. The reason behind the death is not know, the police said.
Police recover pistol
A team of policemen from the District Crime Investigation Bureau (DCIB) arrested two persons and recovered a pistol and seven bullets from them, when they were trying to sell the items at Yadthady-Kavarady Cross in Brahmavar police station limits on Friday.
Acting on a tip off, the DCIB team arrested the two accused — Yogish and Sohail — who had come on a motorcycle and were trying to sell the pistol at around 10.15 a.m.
Besides these, the police seized three mobile telephones and their motorcycle. The duo was handed over to the Brahmavar police station.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered. While Yogish is from Koteshwar village, Sohail is from Kundapur. Yogish was involved in an extortion case in Kundapur in 2011, the police said.
