Surathkal: Hundreds of supporters of the deceased Keshava Shetty staged a protested along with the dead body of the decease, who is suspected to have been murdered by the people of Drug mafia at Soorinje near Kinnigoli on Tuesday morning, January 6. A leader of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Satyajit Surathkal addressing the gathered said, "the Ganja Mafia operating in Surtahkal area is the reason behind many murders. If the police had taken action on time the mafia would not have spread its arms to this extent. We had given the information to the police many a times but no sincere efforts from the police have been made in this regard." After the police personnel promised to form a separate team to curb the mafia the protestors let the final rites of the deceased to take place. It is suspected that Prashanth alias Pacchu, who is also a drug peddler is said to be the man behind the murder. As per the complaint of the Keshava Shetty he was remanded to one month imprisonment. After he came from the jail he is said to have committed this murder.
