Mangaluru : A Muslim girl, who is a student of a reputed college in the city, married a Hindu bus conductor recently.

Insha Khalil (19) a resident of Kotekar, fell in love with Bharath Raj (28), conductor of a bus that runs on the Mangaluru – Talapady route.

Infuriated by this, parents of the girl filed a kidnap case against Bharath at Ullal Police Station, claiming the boy to be the accused.

It is learnt that Insha left for college on November 19, but did not reach home on her usual time. In this backdrop, her parents lodged a missing complaint.

The kidnap compliant was registered after they learnt about the girl having eloped with her beau from another community.

The couple who is said to have eloped to Mysuru has not returned yet. However, it is said that the couple has tied the knot at a temple in Mysuru with the help of some Hindu outfits.

Inter-faith marriage : Locals picket Ullal Station

Ullal : Atmosphere turned chaotic at Ullal Police Station on Sunday, November 23 as people of Someshwar Gram Panchayat picketed the station demanding the release of some individuals who were reportedly taken into custody by the police for being witnesses to the inter-faith marriage of two lovers hailing froms different religions.

A Hindu Bus Conductor named Bharath Raj (28) and Muslim girl Insha Khalil (19) from Kotekar fell in love with each other and got married recently. Infuriated by this, parents of the girl filed a kidnap case against Bharath at Ullal Police Station.

Someshwar Gram Panchyat member Latha and her husband Anand and two others from the Panchayat had reportedly became witnesses to the marriage at the Registrar’s office here. In this backdrop, the police summoned them for questioning.

The locals who were raged by this gathered outside the police station demanding their release.

The couple is still untraceable and the police is on  look out for them.
