Monkey electrocuted, environmentalist perform last rites 

Thekkate: The globalization which has led to the deforestation has adversely affected bio diversity. The wild animals are now forced shift their base from forest to cities in search of food and shelter. When humans are least bothered about the nature and its creatures, an environmentalist has set an example by performing the last rites of a monkey which was electrocuted in Kumbhashi.
 
Korgi Vittal Shetty who has been feeding monkeys which visit his region was kind enough to perform the last rites of a monkey which was loitering after being abandoned from its herd. On the fateful day the monkey which climbed an electric pole was electrocuted. 


 
The body of the monkey which was dangling from the electric cable was brought down by the local people. Saddened with the death of the monkey Shetty performed the last rites as per Hindu tradition.
 
From last four years Shetty has been feeding nearly 35 monkeys with bread, biscuits, fruits purchased in his own money. Further, it is common to find monkeys gathering near the Anegudde temple steps and waiting eagerly for Shetty who brings goodies for them.

Notorious robber arrested

Mangaluru: A 35-year-old man who was accused of stealing iron rods used in the construction of houses and buildings was arrested by city police on Monday, November 10. The arrested is Harish Poojary, a resident of Puchchemogru in Moodbidri.

According to the police the accused had stolen iron rods from a construction building site at Mastikatte valued at Rs 24,000 on October 21. He had also robbed iron rods from another building construction site in Marpady village valued at Rs 15,000 on November 9.

Harish who was under investigation in nine other cases had also stolen a vehicle from Bendore Well on June 16. 

Father-in-law puts daughter-in-law, grandson on gun point

Belthangady : A case has been registered against a man for allegedly threatening to kill his daughter-in-law and grandson with a unlicensed country-made gun in Belthangady on Monday, November 10.

The accused is Gangayya Gowda (65).

In the complaint filed by his daughter- in-law Vedavathi, she has stated that she had married Gangayya’s son Lakshman Gowda two years ago. On November 9, the accused is said to have loaded the country gun and pointed it out at Vedavati and her son and threatened to kill both if they wouldn’t leave the house.

Vedavathi in her complaint has mentioned about life threat that she and her son are facing.

Social media abuzz demanding justice for Nanditha

Mangaluru : Clamour demanding justice for Nanditha has turned manifold with two pages dedicated to the deceased already making buzz on the social networking site Facebook.

The page ‘Justice For Kumari Nanditha Poojary - Join This Page To Support Us’ has already garnered over 16,500 likes in just 10 days. With most of the posts criticizing the state government for its alleged lack of interest in reaching to the roots, the page admin/handlers are trying to publicize the issue as much as possible with 12-14 posts a day.

Meanwhile, followers of the page have been extending their support to bring out the truth and the likes and shares for every simple yet effective post on the page.

Another Facebook page named ‘Justice for Nanditha’ has been doing its bit with a few posts being uploaded on the platform since its inception on November 4 and has managed to attract just about a 100 users.

Twitteratis are not behind with support pouring in for the bereaved family from all over.

The latest social networking app WhatsApp has also been playing a great role seeking support towards unbiased probe into the case and stringent action against the culprits. You may be taken by surprise when you get to see atleast 4-5 friends on your WhatsApp contact list having changed their display picture demanding ‘justice’ for Nandita.

Nandita, a high school student was taken in a car while going to school on October 29 and was allegedly sexually assaulted by unknown persons. Later she was found on a hill when the villagers came for help. The student who was admitted to a local hospital first and later to shifted to a hospital in Manipal, breathed her last on October 31.

after looking at pics first i thought jossey is doing some exceptional stunts...after reading news, realized its monkey......
