Case filed against MLC Ivan D’souza

Mangaluru: After the Member of Karnataka Legislative Council (MLC) Ivan D’souza put himself in controversy and gained criticism across the state for his remark against BJP leader K S Eshwarappa, a Lawyer and Social Activist from Bangaluru T Narasimhamoorthy has filed a case against Ivan at Vidhana Soudha police station.

Congress MLC Ivan D’Souza on November 8 had hit back at BJP leader K S Eshwarappa by asking him what if his wife was raped. The statement was raised after K S Eshwarappa on November 7 stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister K J George will have feelings for victims of sexual assault in the state only if their daughters are ‘raped’.

Lawyer T Narasimhamoorthy in his complaint stated that the remarks made by the politician are of mean nature and the remarks demean the dignity of women. The complainant urged for stern legal action against the MLC D’souza and BJP leader K S Eshwarappa.

Kavoor SI Umesh Kumar makes a comeback at same station

Mangaluru : Kavoor Police Sub Inspector Umesh Kumar who was suspended for manhandling Hindu activist Charan has rejoined the same police station from November 9.

Umesh Kumar was suspended by the Police Commissioner on October 20 after Hindu activists and several BJP leaders mounted pressure on the higher ups.

The suspension came close on the heels of DCP Vishnuvardhan submitting a report in connection to the assault case. Charan, an activist of Bajrang Dal was reportedly assaulted by the SI for seeking bail from the court and not appearing at station in connection to a particular case. Severely injured Charan was hospitalised and raged by the act of the SI, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad had organized protest against police sub inspector Umesh Kumar demanding his suspension.
