Hindutva outfits demand resignation of Rai, transfer of Commissioner

Mangaluru : Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Hindu Jagaran Vedike have decided to stage a four-day long stir from November 7 onwards in the city demanding resignation of Dakshina Kannada District in-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai and transfer of Mangalore City Commissioner R Hitendra.

Condemning the state government, State Co-Convener of Hindu Jagarana Vedike Satyajit Surathkal in a press conference said that the Congress government in the state has always tried to bog down the Hindutva outfits and show their social activities in wrong light.

“Rai is directly responsible for splitting the communities in the district in the name of religion. On the other hand, Commissioner Hitendra is acting like a puppet in the hands of Rai. He, who should have stayed unbiased and acted sensibly, has always given his nod to all the orders of Rai. Hence, we demand resignation of Rai and transfer of Commissioner Hitendra so that peace is restored in Mangaluru,” he said.

Divulging details to reporters, he said that workers of the said outfits will stage a protest in front of Town Hall, Mangaluru at 11 am on Friday, November 7. Protests will be held at Bajpe Bus Stand at 4 pm, Vamanjoor Junction at 5.30 pm, Thokkottu Junction at 10.30 am on November 10, 11 and 12 respectively.

Regional Convener of Bajrang Dal Sharan Pumpwell, Working President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Jitendra Kothary and President of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Mangaluru City Kishore Kumar were present at the press meet.

UTK promises to sanction medical block, trauma super-specialty ward for Wenlock

Mangaluru : The staff of Wenlock Hospital have urged the Minister for Health U T Khader to sanction a Medicine Block and a Trauma Super Specialty Ward for the hospital.

Responding to this, Khader during a review meeting on Tuesday, November 5, the Minister directed the officials to hold a meet with the Deputy Commissioner and experts concerned at the earliest and chalk out a plan to build a sophisticated Operation Theatre and a 220 bedded Trauma ward. Meanwhile, he assured that it was his responsibility to grant the required funds.

A senior doctor from KMC Hospital, which has entered into an agreement with the Wenlock opined that it would be ideal and cost effective to club both the Trauma and the Medical wards in one building. He further stated that 167-year old Wenlock building is in dilapidated state and hence it would be advisable to demolish the structure to build new block.

While the hospital authorities expressed satisfaction on the State Health Ministry for upgrading the ICU and the operation theatres by providing new ventilators, machines and sophisticated lighting systems, they pressed for better facilities in the dialysis centre so that a sophisticated dialysis centre could be setup. Khader had recently granted eight dialysis machines to the hospital.

While the mortuary has been upgraded with LED lights, toilets, seating and drinking water supply to the visitors, Khader ordered the officials to ensure that the family members of the deceased are attended immediately as they will not be in a position to wait for the hospital staff for further procedures.

Treatment for Haemophilia:

Revealing his plan of providing treatment to haemophilia victims, he said that the treatment will be introduced in all medical colleges in the state in March next year and that all these colleges will be brought under Bangalore Medical College. Medicines will be provided in the hospitals at 20% cheaper rates than the MRP.

ICU, mortuary, STP to be inaugurated next week:

The newly constructed 14 bedded ICU, renovated mortuary and a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) built at a cost of Rs 1.12 crore is scheduled to be inaugurated next week in the hospital premises.

Karnik demands for CBI probe in Theerthahalli case

Mangaluru : MLC Ganesh Karnik has demanded the government to hand over the Theerthahalli minor girl death case to the CBI.

Opining that the BJP has little faith in the CID investigations, Karnik said that the probe right at the first stage itself is evincing that the police are shielding the perpetrators.
Lamenting over the fact that the issue has also been made use for political gains, he said that the the police are now claiming that they have found a death note after they took the girl’s bag to the Police Station.

"The note, which was not found by the parents is recovered by the police all of a sudden, which is very surprising," said Karnik addressing the press persons on Wednesday, November 5.

With regard to slamming of Goonda Act on activists of Hindu outfits, Karnik said that over the last six months there have been several instances were cadres of Hindu organizations have been targeted. "Goonda act is being invoked and activists are subjected to physical torture in police station without any case being registered. The Police department is behaving like puppets in the hands of the Congress party.

If the police continue to victimize the activists then Bharatiya Janata Party will take up severe fight against the department," he warned.
